Even in doubles, big names such as Mara Santangelo, Roberta Vinci, and Barbora Strýcová have graced the courts.

Since 2015, many athletes have used Val Gardena again as a springboard. Players like Rebecca Šramková, Liudmila Samsonova, and Lucia Bronzetti launched remarkable developments after their appearances. In recent years, the tournament has also become a magnet for comebacks: Timea Babos, Ana Konjuh, Viktória Kužmová, Tamira Paszek, and Mona Barthel have found their way back to top form here.

The second day of the Sparkasse ITF W50 Val Gardena South Tyrol in Ortisei demanded everything from everyone on Monday. The organizers of TC Urtijei, led by the coordinator of the organizing committee, Martina Moser, pushed through 16 matches. The players were on court from 9 a.m. until after midnight. No South Tyrolean competed in singles—but that will change tomorrow.
