19. - 25. November 2023

Super-Tuesday concluded

Out for Laura Mair

The Super Tuesday at the Raiffeisen ITF Women's Val Gardena South Tyrol is behind us: 13 singles matches were played and six matches lasted over two hours. Lara Pfeifer took a set from the Serbian number 5 seed and fought bravely, but in the end it was not enough to reach the round of 16. She lost to Katarina Kozarov (WTA 307) 3:6 7:6(4) 3:6.

The French number one seed Chloe Paquet (WTA 188) had no problems against the former world number 26 (2013) Tamira Paszek from Austria, beating her 6-0 6-2, while the German Mona Barthel (WTA 250), who was already ranked 23rd in the world in 2013, beat the 20-year-old Italian Lisa Pigato (WTA 389) 6-2 6-3.

Susan Bandecchi from Switzerland (WTA 329) surprisingly lost to Caijsa Wilda Hennemann (WTA 521) from Sweden 3:6 6:3 2:6. She had won the Raiffeisen ITF Women's Val Gardena Südtirol here in Ortisei in 2021 with prize money of $25,000.

In the evening match, Laura Mair from Selva Val Gardena (WTA 690) was able to defeat her opponent Diana Marcinkevica (WTA 375) from Latvia despite a good performance. She had 7 break chances in the first set, but was only able to realise one and narrowly lost 4:7 in the tie-break. Her opponent did not let up in the second set and is now through to the last 16 after winning 7:6 (4) 6:2.
