Number One and Number Five Seed Out

Other Seeds Through To Quarter Finals

Latvia's Diana Marcinkevica (WTA 375) caused a surprise when she defeated local hero Laura Mair yesterday. Today she once again played strongly and kicked the first seed Chloe Paquet (WTA 188) out of the race with 6-3 3-6 7-5.

As expected, the seeded players Yuliya Hatouka (2), Mona Barthel 3) and Anastasia Kulikova (4) qualified for the round of 16 with two-set wins. The Serbian number 5 seed Katarina Kozarov, on the other hand, lost to the German Carolina Kuhl.

Anastasia Abbagnato was the last Italian player to be eliminated from the main draw of the Raiffeisen ITF Women's Val Gardena South Tyrol today. She lost to Russia's Yulia Hatouka 6-4 6-4, but she and Kamilla Bartone (LAT) beat the doubles duo Gimbrere (NED) / Wagner (BIH) 6-4 7-6(5) to qualify for the semi-finals.

In the last match of the evening, the pair of Mair (ITA) / Sekulic (GER) lost 6-3 7-5 to their opponents De Vroome (NED) / Kozarov (SRB). Meanwhile, a never-ending duel between Amarni Banks (Great Britain) and Iva Primorac (Croatia) played out on Court 1. After two and a half hours, No. 6 seed Banks ultimately won the match 4-6 6-3 7-5.
